"October's Horror"
Chapter Six
Pulling into the drive way both Myracle and October sat and stared at the house they were raised in. The house looked the same on the outside but October knew that on the inside things were moved around and redecorated. October’s mother had a thing for making her home look different every month. Getting out of the car she practically ran to the door feeling proud that she beat Myracle to the porch. Smiling she felt young again.
Knocking on the door she stood with Myracle at her side waiting for some one to open the door. If October guessed correctly it would be Jonah answering the door. She knew that even if her mother was first to the door she would call him to answer the door. Finally the door swung open and Jonah jumped out smothering her in a large hug. “OCTOBER!” Jonah screamed.
“Hey Jonah!” October screamed back. With in a minute the hug was over and Myracle was now the one squirming in his arms.
“How about we go inside?” Myracle side still being squished and sounding breathless.
Together they all went inside. October threw her jacket onto the chair as they passed the living room and headed for the kitchen. Spotting her mom she went to her and hugged her. Her mother was in regular clothes and had an apron on top of it all. Her arms were covered in flour to her elbows and she had a bit of it on her nose. Her mother wasn’t the house wife type but she knew that ever so often she took the roll and cooked or baked with Jonah.
“What are you girls doing here?” Her mother asked.
“October is afraid she’s going to die so she wanted to see you guys.” Mracle said.
DAMM!!! Couldn’t Myracle listen to her once?! She really didn’t want her mother hearing about the cat and the threats. She just wanted to say she was in the neighborhood and that was that. Truly she did feel that way but her mother didn’t have to know.
“What makes you think your going to die?” her mother asked.
“Nothing, Myracle is lying. We were just in the neighborhood. We aren’t staying long though. Just thought we would stop by and say hello.” October lied.
“October I raised you. I know when you are lying. Is it anything serious? Should I be worried also? What’s going on?” Her mother inquired.
Hating Myracle for what she had said, October shook her head and began telling the story. Of course she left out the kiss and the barbeque. She told her mother only about the cat and the threat. That was all she needed to tell her.
“Well, doesn’t seem very threatening. I think you’ll be fine.” Her mother said washing her hands in the large kitchen sink.
“That’s what I think also.” Myracle said.
“Yeah, me three.” Jonah said.
To finalize it she said “I agree.” Just then her phone vibrated in her pocket and she pulled it out. Looking at the caller ID she smiled. Kristian.

Kristian shook his head as he stared down at what used to be October’s car. October had left it in the garage of her apartment building and some one had torched it. Up in flames it had exploded damaging three other cars and causing him yet even more paper work. “Come on people; let’s get this cleaned up faster. We have a garage to make available for tenants.”
“OH MY GOD!!!!” came a woman’s voice from behind him. Turning around he looked at October’s face. She bared the same look she had when she had found the cat. For a minute he waited for her to bolt for a bathroom but no shut thing came.
Walking to her he shoved his hands into his pocket and put on a cop face. The face that he knew no one could read. No one could tell him what he was thinking when he had that face. It was a facial expression he rather liked. Standing three feet away from her he shrugged his shoulders at her when her expression said who?
“I’m sorry. It must have happened while you were away. We know that it was started with a beer bottle a napkin and fire. The usual explosion used. We haven’t picked up any prints on the bottle and no one has seen anything. It seems like that person was pretty clean at his work.” He said.
“Wow, this is some crazy stuff October.” The voice caught his attention and for the first time he noticed the person standing behind October. She looked exactly like her. She was blonde. It was weird to see October’s face blonde with blue eyes. He didn’t think it could ever happen. She was beautiful also. In a different way she was beautiful. The October replica stepped in front of October and held out her hand. “Hi, I’m Myracle. October’s sister.”
Kristian shook her hand and nodded. “Nice to meet you” he muttered.
“Oh god. This is all so scary.” October said her voice weak.
“Seriously” Myracle said. “What are you going to do? You should come to my house for a while. Is her apartment damaged? No right?”
“No, there was no damage to her apartment flat. I don’t think she should go with you though. Her car was destroyed while she was away. Maybe her being home will scare the person off.” Kristian suggested.
“Well, I’m not staying here. I’m getting the creeps. Give me your apartment keys. I’ll put all the bags in your apartment and then I’m out.” Myracle said.
October reached into her pocket and pulled out keys. Her hand shaking she handed it to Myracle and they stood there for two silent moments while Myracle scurried away and disappeared.
“So… what’s in the bags?” Kristian asked.
“What? Oh, we went shopping today.” October said licking her lips.
Her hand was still shaking and she hadn’t blinked in a while. Sighing Kristian stepped closer to her and grabbed her hand. October looked down at their hands and blinked. This blink caused a tear to trickle down her cheek and had Kristian immediately drawing her into his arms.
“I’m so sorry this is happening October.” He whispered into her ear. Her hand let go of his and her arms curled around his neck.

Debra hit the power button on the remote and sighed. She wiped another tear from her eyes. The sight of her younger brother hugging the woman who had been bombed today was overwhelming. She just couldn’t believe what was going on. Shaking her head she got up and headed upstairs. Once up the stairs she entered Gabi’s room.
“Hey honey” Debra said to her daughter who lie on the bed with a book in her hands. When Gabi didn’t reply she simply shrugged and picked up the basket of dirty clothes she was going to wash. Her daughter had been quite quiet lately and it killed her. She knew that losing the cat the horrible way she did would effect her but she didn’t expect this.
As she thought about it the truth was Debra knew what happened to the cat. She knew the secret. She knew everything and it hurt her core but never would she tell. Never would she even utter those dammed words.
Leaving her daughters room she went down the steps carrying the clothes basket. She walked down steps till she finally was in the basement. Setting the basket down, she turned and retrieved some detergent. Opening the washing machine top she picked up some of the clothes. Wrinkling her nose she raised the clothes to her nose. Suddenly tears formed fast in her eyes and she began open mouth sobbing. Why?

Glancing around Gabi listened for her mother’s presence. Sensing she was in the basement Gabi grabbed the phone she had stuffed under her pillow. Picking up the phone she hit redial. Her mother had interrupted her and forced her to hang up on the first ring. Holding the phone to her ear she listened to it ring. Finally a female voice answered and Gabi froze. “Hello?” The woman said.
“Uh… Hi… Is Zee there?” Gabi asked.
“No… I don’t believe there is a Zee here… Hold on.” There was a ruffle in the background and then finally Zee came onto the phone. “Hello” he said.
“Are you with your sister right now?” Gabi asked her hand on her hip as though he could see her.
“No, that was my… girlfriend.” Gabi gasped. HOW COULD HE?!
”What?! Why?! I thought that if October kept her mouth closed you’d stay with me? If you already have a different girlfriend then why are you doing these things to October?! LEAVE HER ALONE!” Gabi said ending it with a growl as tears flowed down her cheeks and anger rushed through her body.
“Listen Gabi I have no idea what you are talking about. Don’t call me again. Your nuts and we could never be.” Then a click.
Gabi screamed and threw the phone. He was a jerk. He was the worst thing that had ever happened to her. He was the man she loved and she hated this fact. Why would he do this? Honestly, she thought that he loved her as much as she loved him. She thought everything would be ok. What was it that made him back away from her? The questions ran quickly threw her mind and Gabi began breathing fast and the room moved in circles as more tears rushed down her cheeks. Finally it all ended as the world blacked out and Gabi entered a state of nothingness. She felt herself collapse and from there all senses failed. She no longer heard or felt anything. Her vision went black. It was all happening again.

October sat on her couch in Kristians arms. She rested her head on his chest and thought about the previous events. She had spent the night answering questions and watching them chug what was left of her car away. It had been a long night and she was feeling especially bummed. Sitting with Kristian was soothing and she was enjoying it. She listened to the beats of his heart and the sounded he made as he took each breath.
“Kristian, do you think this person might actually kill me?” October asked looking up at him.
“No because we won’t let him.” Kristian told her.
October sighed. “I hate this. I hate it a lot. It’s all stupid.”
“I know. As a cop I witness a lot of thing that are just stupid. I only wish I could make a connection with the cat and your car. The notes.”
“Yeah, that would be nice.” October said lying. She knew the connection and she’d suspected it ever since the car ride to her garage with Myracle.
She had a theory that it was all linked to Gabi’s teacher. October planned to talk to Gabi about it and maybe even pay a visit to the teacher. Only she would never tell Kristian about him because she couldn’t tell Gabi’s secret. She didn’t want to. Gabi trusted her and she couldn’t do it to save her life which seemed in this case was exactly what she had to do.
Two minutes of silence spread between them until October heard the sound of Kristian breathing change and looked up to see that he had fallen asleep. Smiling October closed her eyes and let herself drift off to sleep where murders and car bombers could not find her.
